This week was a freebie, and since I have been reading and reviewing and talking about very little aside from romances for a fair amount of time, I thought I would throw it back to my first love, a good mystery.
I would love some recs, actually. This space is full of psychological thrillers these days, but I long for a good Private Eye or police procedural series. Whatcha got for me? The below list will give you a starting point of what I LOVE.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
I love that graphics that you made. So cool! I read Still Life a couple years ago and really liked it. I have the next four books in the series and I really need to read them!

Connelly’s The Black Echo is on my list this week also, but in a different context. https://www.notesinthemargin.org/2022/04/05/toptentuesday-remarkable-debut-novels/

I love a good mystery series, but I’ve actually only read one of the ones on your list. The Gamache series is my favorite, so much so that I’m reading it slowly on purpose so I can really savor it 🙂 What’s interesting about your picks is that most of the authors are men. I tend to stick to women mystery writers—not on purpose, that’s just how it tends to go. My favorite male mystery writer is probably Peter May. As for women? There’s Tana French, Kathy Reichs, Julia Keller, Sharon Bolton, Jane Casey, Sarah Stewart Taylor…so many!
Happy TTT!

I love Tana French and Karen Kijewski—and if I were doing a top fifteen, they would have definitely made the list, probably along with Sara Paretsky and Tess Gerritson. Maybe Laura Lippman.
Happy TTT back!

I love your list, and the graphics you’ve done. I’m not much of a mystery reader, but I’ve heard of all these series.

Have you ever tried Margaret Mizushima’s Timber Creek mysteries? I love the K-9 component in them. 🙂
