BBH: How long does writing a review take?

This week’s question comes from Billy, who wants to know:

How long does it take you to write a review?

That’s a tough question, because so much of my process happens before I actually start to write. I will ponder a review for a week or more, trying too get my feelings straight…and linear. Once I have sort of worked out what I want to say in the review, actually writing it probably only takes an hour or so.

The posts that take the longest are Top Ten Tuesdays, which can take up to three hours. Those are crazy!

What about you? How long does it take you to write a review? Are reviews the things on your blog that are the most time-intensive?

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog

  1. The reviews on my blog are the most time intensive posts for sure. It takes me anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour usually and like you, I tend to take some time to ponder and reflect before I start writing.

  2. My reviews take about an hour also. I find that I start writing one, and will leave it for a day or two and then go back to it. Top Ten Tuesday posts take a lot of time for me also, but I schedule them out several weeks ahead of time so I don’t have to rush them.
