Today’s question comes to us from Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews who asks:
What is the average number of books you read per month?
Wow. Great and impossible to answer question. How much I read depends on so many things. How many other hobbies I have going on at the same time. How tired my MS is making me. How depressed I am by a global pandemic and the idiocy of humans.
Some years, I read a book a week. Some years, I read four. Some years I read nothing except Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir fan fiction.
(How I wish I were kidding but I lost most of 2018 to Canada’s sweethearts.)
These days, the number is around fourteen, give or take.
It also depends in a given month WHAT I am reading. Some months are thriller-heavy, and I might only get in eight. Rom-Com heavy, and I might get in 20+.
I think it’s interesting that I am MUCH MORE invested in getting to the end of a Rom-Com, where I know that ending ahead of time, than I am in getting to the end of a thriller, where I don’t. I’m sure that says something about me, but I’m not sure what.
So, readers. How much are you reading these days? Is that more or less than usual? I’ll take your confessions in the comments.

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book-related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog

I average about 10-11/month — but this month has seemed slow for me. (Though I do have the ILL that has to go back on the 1st, so I’ll probably marathon through at least that and be a bit closer to average.
But a couple of them have been rereading Discworld — because comfort reading.
Still reading varies a lot. Some months I’ll be distracted, or not feeling it, and read only a few books. Others I’ll find a new series and simply inhale it!

Omg Tessa and Scott! They’re amazing 🥲 I totally get it. I also differ some years depending on circumstances but I average lately 7-8 books per month and I’m happy to try keeping that number

I kind of find that too, about romcoms. I wonder if it’s more a need to make sure it does end like you anticipate it will, but idk.🤷♀️ I read about 13-14 per month too.

I only get through 10 – 12. I say only because the vast majority are 200 pages or less, so not particularly long books either.

I vary quite a bit on books per month. 10 – 15 books a month. Also, it depends, if I’m driving a lot, I’ll listen to a lot of audiobooks, and that gets my numbers higher.

I average about 5-6 a month, depending on the lengths.
