Hello, my lovelies.
I had all the plans for an in—depth look at the ten Christmas books I have on deck for the holiday season, but yesterday was a bit of a shitshow, and I do not have the energy.
This week’s topic, books on your Christmas wishlist, should be a slam-dunk for most of you, and I am poised at the ready for even MORE recs to add to my already completely insane TBR. But I’m a library girl, and a kindle girl, and so I don’t ask for books anymore. Which sounds sad, but I promise it’s fine! I just have such a constant stream of books from other sources that I don’t need my mom spending $15–$25 for something I can easily get for free.
So, I made my way over to The Broke and The Bookish’s archive, looking for something else, and I found this gem from Jana:
Top Ten Series I Haven’t Finished Yet
I may have mentioned it before, but I am crap at actually finishing series. I get distracted, I forget to check for new books. Or, if the series is actually finished, as in no more books will forthcome, well, sometimes I just don’t want it to end.
However, at this moment, there are way too many series that I have left dangling. I hope to fix that in 2022, but in the meantime, here are ten series that I can’t believe I stopped in the middle of.

So that’s my shameful list of series regrets. 🙂
I hope that your Holiday week is full of Christmas cheer, or Chinese Food. However you celebrate, or don’t, may the Solstice bring you and yours joy and peace.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
I SO hear you on this topic! I love series books, but I get caught in the middle of them ALL THE TIME. I finally made a spreadsheet of all the ones I’m reading, where I am in the series, etc. so I could keep track. It has helped a lot.
I also read the original Cleaver series and didn’t realize Wells had written more of it. Interesting. I might need to revisit the series now.
Good luck with all these. Happy TTT!
Susan

I use my library a ton as well, and I often think that I don’t all the books in my house, but I just can’t let my books go, and I keep acquiring more. *sigh
I am one of those readers that waits for the whole series/trilogy to be finished before I even start. I hate waiting for the next book, and if I love a series, I HAVE to finish. I hope you get to finish your series soon.

It is so hard to keep up with all the series you want to continue haah!
I really need to start the All Souls trilogy though!

Digging in the status of my series; that seems like a nice distraction — let me do that. I like to think I do a decent job of keeping up with my series (less some delays waiting for the library to get the latest installment), but at the moment I may be further behind than normal.
I haven’t read Kingsbridge #4 by Ken Follett yet; nor Ready Player Two. And there’s some other series I’m a book behind on because they’re in my library queue from ’20/’21 and I haven’t gotten that far down the queue yet. That’s in part due to massive KU binging when I had an active subscription; and in part because some series/books get to jump the queue and acquired from the library ASAP. (60% of all the books I’ve read this year have been from KU. Those tend to be shorter books; but boy there’s a lot of them!)
And at the moment I’ve also got a bunch of KU series I’m now a book or two behind on as I’ve found them, or they’ve been published, since September; when my subscription lapsed.
A Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. by Angela Roquet
Jane Austen’s Dragons by Maria Grace
Spell Bond: More Tales From the Old World by Melissa F. Olson
The Greater Lands Saga by Joseph Lallo
Empire Rising by D. J. Holmes
But still, I can’t think of any series where I’m currently just stopped in the middle of them with no immediate plans to keep up. Historically my one huge exception to that was Jordan’s Wheel of Time. Somewhere around book 8, where the story really bogged down, I made the decision to wait until the series was finished and then do one clean, start to finish, read through; no more reading these enormous tomes as they trickled out.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a library/kindle girl! There are so many options and that is okay!! This topic is great and I really need to do this myself. There are so many that I have to finish the third book and so on. I loved the first Pillars book and then never continued!! I own them all and I haven’t read them. I tried to make it a priority this year and never got it. I hope next year!! Have a happy Holiday!

I’m behind on all of Michael Connelly’s series…but only because I just started reading him this year. And both Orphan X and Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series are favorites of mine; I’m actually caught up in those and anxiously awaiting their new releases. But there are at least ten other series I’m very far behind in. Fun TTT. 🙂

Not shameful at all and there’s definitely nothing wrong with being a library/kindle girl! I wish I had access to libraries here cos I’d for sure be utilising them a lot! 😂 I also mostly read on my Kindle these days and have taken to (mostly) only adding special edition favourites to my physical shelves! I hope you get around to finishing these series at some point. I have *so* many that I haven’t finished and keep telling myself I’ll get around to doing it (eventually)! 😉

I have a bunch to finish too — the list never ends!! Of these, I’ve read the Mercy books (and love them all so much!!! can’t wait for the new one!) and the All Souls Trilogy (which I’d like to reread at some point). Speaking of Mercy, do you also read the Charles & Anna books? I love those as well.

I’m slowly catching up to Mercy Thompson. I’ve read 10 now haha. But I was late to the mercy party anyway. Like I only started last year. Good luck on catching up with all these series.
