Love Your Library: November 2021

15 books this month, 12 from the library and 3 from Kindle Unlimited.

Library Reads are LATE this month, y’all. I try to publish these on the Saturday that is closest to the end of the month, but last Saturday was sort of consumed by Thanksgiving-weekend stuff, so here we are.

It was kind of an exceptional month, especially given that I finished the last countable book on the 24th. After that, it was all Follett, all the time. There is a reason that I don’t read a lot of long, dense books, and that is that they take up too much time! But I always make an exception for Follett, so here we are. I am finally 77% of the way through Never, and should finish this weekend, so that I may properly embark on my Christmas Rom-Com Project. Looking forward to that so much. I mean, don’t get me wrong—Never is great. But I’m constantly worried that Follett is about to kill someone, and, say what you will about RomComs, but they rarely kill off the protagonists.

Library Books I Read in November

Books that ended up abandoned were Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead, and Utopia Avenue by David Mitchell. But, to be fair, abandoned is a harsh word, given that I put them both back on hold immediately. They just got…I just ran out of time. I think that ‘do a better job of managing my library holds’ needs to be on the list of new year’s resolutions. Too many things were either not finished, or read in a panic with Wi-Fi turned off on my Kindle. Don’t need that kind of stress. .

I recognize, looking at the ridiculous state of that pile, that something needs to be done. There will be a TBR clean out at the end of the year. I have to come to terms with the fact that it’s probably time to cut bait with some of these reads. There are SO MANY of them, that I can’t really even keep them straight. So. A purge is a-comin’. Look for a much more streamlined list in December.

So, that’s the current state of my virtual library pile. What do you have out from the library now?

  2. I’d like to get the Dave one. Eight Hundred Grapes made me want to read more of her stuff but I haven’t yet. Malibu rising is one I’ve considered too. I’ve read one of her books… this seems to be a pattern! I’d probably try Daisy Jones next though…
