LTB: What’s your backup plan for posting?

This week’s topic comes to us from Rukky, who asks—

There are just some days when you completely forget to prepare a post beforehand. In those instances, is there a specific kind of post you quickly throw together to stay on schedule? Do you just miss the day and move on? If you can’t come up with any new ideas for posts, what do you usually end up recycling?

I don’t write every day, and I try to stay a few days ahead of the blog, to avoid just this issue. The only thing that I write the day of is the Sunday Post, and even that I try to start ahead of time so that it’s easy to finish in just a few minutes.

If I absolutely couldn’t, I would just skip it, or post later. I would explain, say ‘oops’ and move on. I love you guys, but this is a passion project for me, and not my actual job, so what I owe the blog is exactly what I want to owe the blog, you know?

That said, I am going to go now, in the middle of the night on a Saturday, and write the posts for the rest of the week so that I don’t have to worry about them.

Oh…you didn’t know I was green?

  1. I feel exactly the same, and whilst I love doing the Sunday post it is a pain that so much of it has to be done at the last minute. No one is paying for my content so if I don’t post it really doesn’t matter.

  2. I do that too- sometimes I just let it go, and sometimes I cobble something together. 🙂 I like how you worded that though- ” what I owe the blog”
