Sunday Post—The Week in Review

So. What happened this week?

When I am asked this question, I usually want to say “nothing.” Because as a disabled person who does not work, it really does feel like the days just…can a day drone on? Cause that’s what it feels like.

But I am committed to making my days feel meaningful, even if nothing huge really ever happens anymore. Maybe that is just my perception, and maybe things DO happen, and I just don’t notice?

So, first thing. I got a new chair! Some backstory, I have MS, and woke up partially paralyzed in December. Spoiler—I got better. Sort of. But when it happened, I couldn’t get myself in and out of bed, so I started sleeping in a powered recliner that we had here in the house from when the lovely roomie broke her leg.

Eventually, the paralysis largely resolved, but I discovered that sleeping in a recliner was way better for my janky shoulder, plus, I can read much easier, plus when I get sleepy, well, I just close my eyes. No danger of becoming wakeful while I haul my butt to bed.

However, the recliner that we had was a previously well-loved gift from a friend which had definitely seen better days. There was a spring that was getting a little too intimate with my nether bits in the night, and it was overall a bit on the creaky side. So I replaced it. I got a pretty basic faux-leather recliner with two motors, which means that the foot rest is able to be raised independently from the back reclining. Makes reading a dream.

Let’s see…what else? On the advice of my therapist, I have resumed daily meditation. I am trying to meditate for twenty minutes the moment I wake up in the morning, but really it’s more like twenty minutes after I pee and get a drink, because I am a woman of a certain age and honestly, the only reason I am awake is because of the peeing thing.

Finally, we booked a cruise. Now, don’t get excited. It’s not till next summer, and I have no actual belief that it will go off as scheduled. I still fear that Covid will completely tank the entire cruise industry…but I had credit with the cruise line from the cancelled Barcelona 2020 cruises, and that credit was expiring, so…yeah. I booked a cruise.

On the blog, I kept up my 5X posting schedule, with this week actually getting six posts because of the monthly library recap. I’m not going to list them here, but I will say that I’m pretty stinking proud of the Blogger Identity Crises post, so if you missed that one…

Book wise, I read three books this week. The Madness of Crowds was the weekly review book, and the other two were decent romance novels. I find that I do like a romance novel as a palette cleanser between heavier material, so I usually sneak one or two in a week. The Madness of Crowds was purchased by my lovely mother, Rock Bottom Girl was from Kindle Unlimited and Well Met I got from the library.

Up next week should be some immunizations, if I get around to scheduling them, and…well, I’m sure something else will happen. Right?
